The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) was established in 1967 and has grown to attract thousands of student participants annually. It takes place in a different country each year, adding a global element to the competition. The IPhO assesses students' understanding of various physics concepts, including Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Thermodynamics, among others. To be eligible for the International Physics Olympiad, students must first participate in regional or national-level physics tests, which may vary depending on their country of residence. Those who excel and rank among the top finalists in their respective regions are selected to represent their country at the prestigious IPhO. As a helpful tip, sample questions from previous years can be found to aid in preparation and practice for the competition.

Summary

There are various Humane Society and Animal Humane Society chapters located throughout the United States that actively seek volunteers. For instance, the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota offers an opportunity for student volunteers to contribute their time and efforts at any of its three shelter locations in the state. Participants can choose between two volunteer tracks: Adoption Floor Assistants, where they assist customers, facilitate connections between animals and potential adopters, and provide valuable animal socialization to ensure their well-being; and Animal Care Assistants, who are responsible for maintaining clean and comfortable housing for the animals, ultimately leading to improved health and adoptability. If accepted into the program, volunteers are required to pay a program fee of $50.

This is a three-week mentored program designed to increase the exposure of high school students (15 to 18 years of age) to research methods. The instructor is a member of the UCI School of Medicine faculty with coaches selected from UCI undergraduates or postgraduates majoring in areas related to biomedical research.
