Bio

I hold a Ph.D./M.S. in Bioengineering, specializing in Biosensors, and my academic journey unfolded at the prestigious University of California, San Diego (UCSD). The core of my scholarly passion lies in the captivating intersection of technology and biology. Throughout my graduate schooling and doctoral research, I immersed myself in unraveling the intricacies of our physiological processes. My dedication culminated in the development of an innovative algorithm, a significant stride forward in biosensor technology, specifically designed to decipher how our bodies utilize oxygen. Following my graduate studies and while discerning my career preferences, I transitioned into the role of an educator and mentor. For over a decade, I have found immense fulfillment in guiding high school students interested in pursuing STEM fields in college. Assisting them in discovering their dreams and academic aspirations has become a genuine pleasure, marking a meaningful chapter in my professional journey. Beyond the realm of academia, I discovered a profound passion for rock climbing. Scaling heights and overcoming obstacles provides not only a refreshing outlet for creativity and exploration but also a deep sense of accomplishment. As I engage in these outdoor adventures, the warmth of my connections with my supportive husband and our two delightful dogs acts as an anchor, underscoring the importance of shared experiences. Together, these elements weave a narrative of a life rich in fulfillment and meaningful moments.

Implantable biosensors and their contribution to the future of precision medicine

My expertise lies in the realm of bioengineering, with a specific focus on biosensors. Together, we can delve into the fascinating intersection of technology and biology, exploring topics such as signal processing, algorithm development, and the application of biosensors in understanding physiological processes. Throughout our collaboration, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of biosensor technology, honing skills in digital signal processing, algorithm design, and the analysis of physiological data. Additionally, you'll develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as we navigate the complexities of biosensor applications. Our journey begins with a solid foundation in the theoretical aspects of biosensors, where we'll explore key concepts and existing technologies. We'll then transition to a more hands-on experience, engaging in research review to learn about practical experiments and simulations that gather real-world data. The process involves a blend of literature reviews, and learning about different experimental designs, creating a holistic approach to information gathering. The culmination of our collaboration could manifest in various impactful outcomes. This might include the development of a novel biosensor algorithm, a research paper elucidating the findings of current experiments, or the creation of a prototype design showcasing the practical application of biosensors in a specific context. The potential outcomes are diverse, ranging from scientific research papers to tangible prototypes or digital solutions. Project Ideas: Smart Health Monitoring System: Develop a biosensor-based system for real-time health monitoring, integrating data analysis and visualization. Environmental Biosensors: Explore the application of biosensors in environmental monitoring, creating a project that assesses air or water quality. Algorithm Optimization: Focus on refining existing biosensor algorithms or designing a new one to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of data analysis. Biosensor Integration in Wearables: Investigate the incorporation of biosensors into wearable devices, potentially leading to the creation of a prototype. Biomedical Research Paper: Undertake a comprehensive literature review and experimental research to produce a scientific research paper on a specific aspect of biosensor technology.

Teaching experience

I have over 15 years of professional teaching and mentoring experience with middle school, high school, and first year college students. More specifically, for the past 11 years through the present, my profession has been mentoring and teaching high school students at a local education center, and working with them one-on-one and in groups to help them navigate their high school academics.
