Bio

Hello, my name is Mahlet, and I am a mentor here at Polygence. I am currently in medical school but actually got my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies. After finishing my undergraduate degree, I spent some time in education, working in an under-resourced elementary school before I eventually found my way back to academia as a student. Having been on both sides of the mentor-mentee relationship, I love helping students learn more about what they are passionate about and how to achieve their goals. I often joke that my personality is 90% coffee because of how much I love it. When I'm not in school, I am desperately trying to keep my house plants from dying, searching for yummy recipes to cook, and, of course, coffee shop hopping.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

This research project seeks to investigate how an individual's attitude affects their performance in a variety of settings, including academic, professional, and social contexts.
