Bio
I am a biomedical scientist at Stanford University and I am trying to understand how biological aging changes the immune and cardiovascular systems in our body. I also study how mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, changes with aging. Imagine if you could take mitochondria from young cells and put them in old cells? What do you think are the possibilities? These are the questions I am trying to answer. In my free time, I enjoy running and playing soccer. I love to travel and love learning about new cultures, especially the food. Please feel free to share food recommendations!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
How aging changes the immune and cardiovascular systems
Aging changes a lot of things is the body including your immune system. The immune system is important for protecting us against pathogens. How does aging change our responses to different pathogens? This project would investigate how pathogens differently (or similarly) impact the immune response of young and old individuals.
