The University of Florida Student Science Training Program (UF SSTP) is a seven week residential research program for selected students entering senior year and at least 16 years old by the program start date who are considering science, medicine, math, computer science, or engineering careers. The program emphasis is research participation with a UF faculty research scientist and his or her research team. Students interested in attending the UF SSTP must possess a high level of maturity, an ability to live and learn independently, a desire to work collaboratively, and a sincere interest in research.
UC Davis Young Scholars Program

The UC Davis Young Scholars Program is a summer residential research program designed to expose approximately 40 high achieving high school students to the world of original research within the fields of the biological, agricultural, environmental and natural sciences. Participants in the UC Davis Young Scholars Program will work one-on-one with research faculty and research groups in state of the art laboratories for six weeks. Each student will work on an individual project and prepare a journal quality paper and symposium presentation about their work. Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the first day of the program but not 18 years of age at the end of the program; and must be currently enrolled as a sophomore or junior in high school.

Envirothon® is a competition and leadership experience for high school students (grades 9-12 or ages 14-19) in the United States, Canada, and China. The Envirothon consists of in-class curriculum learning with hands-on outdoor experiences where students can learn natural resource management techniques from natural resource professionals. Students can then participate in the academic competition to test their knowledge and skills. We think this is a very comprehensive and balanced program that combines learning and competition, while working with a very reputable org like the National Conservation Foundation.
