Bio
Hi! My name is Elise, and I graduated in May 2022 from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry. I am a student at Teachers College, Columbia University in the Class of 2024, where I will pursue my Masters of Arts and Education in Psychological Counseling - Mental Health Counseling. I am extremely passionate about mental healthcare in today's society, especially self-esteem and eating disorder counseling. Being a Chemistry minor, I am also passionate about neuroscience in the way that it can help us learn more about behavior. I am so excited to be a Polygence mentor!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
The Effect of Social Media Practices on Self-Esteem
Exploring how social media apps such as Instagram and TikTok have affected adolescents and young adults today, specifically their self-confidence, self-image, and self-comparison. Through exploring this highly important area, we could find potential ways to improve or reverse negative effects of social media for younger generations.

French, intermediateTeaching experience
I was a Supplemental Instructor/Teacher's Assistant for CHM 111 at Wake Forest University when I was a sophomore. I held twice-weekly 1-hour sessions for the entire class, where I prepared practice exams and problem sets for the students, or walked through homework and any other questions they may have had. I also was a virtual math tutor from 2020-2021 through Wake Forest's Office of Civic and Community Engagement for elementary students in the greater Winston Salem area, where I assisted with any homework questions.Credentials
