Bio
A medical student at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine with the goal of becoming a pediatrician. Currently, I'm pursuing a master's in adult education while spending a year teaching simulation and clinical skills at my medical school before going on to my third year. Outside of academics, I love the outdoors! Anywhere with a botanical garden, hiking trail, or pretty trees- you'll find me there! I also enjoy drawing, painting, and playing with my cat, Eggroll, as ways to de-stress when life gets overwhelming.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Effects of energy-drink consumption on students' academic performance
You're falling asleep in a lecture or trying to stay awake to catch up on studying, so you reach for another energy drink for an extra kick. Energy drink consumption has been on the rise, especially among high school and college-age students. But are students aware of what is in the drinks? Or how it affects them on both a biochemical and mental level? This project would explore the main ingredients in popular energy drinks and whether they genuinely affect students' academic performance or cause more harm than good.
Languages I know
Arabic, nativeTeaching experience
As an undergraduate student, I mentored refugee and immigrant kids of varying ages to help them navigate the education system in the U.S. and support them in achieving their goals of going to college, trade school, etc. Additionally, I was a research mentor to undergraduate students from Pre-Med backgrounds. I worked with them to find research projects that fit their interests and guided them through the research process. After graduating with my bachelor's degree in psychology, I worked as a math tutor and a substitute teacher before starting medical school!Credentials
