Bio

Hello! My name is Dean. and I am an MBA candidate at MIT Sloan School of Management. I studied accounting both in my undergraduate and masters programs at the University of Arizona and USC, respectively. After graduating, I joined EY and worked in the Los Angeles audit practice while also obtaining my CPA license. After EY, I joined KPMG where I worked as a M&A Financial Due Diligence senior/manager for 3.5 years. I am pursuing my MBA to explore entrepreneurship and investing, particularly in the consumer/wellness industry. Outside of school and work I like to work out, try new restaurants, hang with my wife and dog, and watch the Dodgers and Lakers.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Emerging start-up evaluation

Identify an emerging start up in a specific industry. After identifying this start up, conduct research on the specific product or problem the company is looking to solve. After understanding the company's mission, research (i.e. online articles, questionnaires, asking friends) on if this problem/product is truly needed in the world and if this company will succeed. Present a presentation outlining why you believe the company will succeed or fail, and what improvements could be suggested to the company.

Teaching experience

I have worked with high school students preparing for college applications and have helped brainstorm ways to strengthen their applications.
