Bio

Hi! I was born and raised in the hot desert of Phoenix, Arizona. I received my BA in English from Northern Arizona University. Directly after undergrad, I earned a full-ride to the University of Michigan where I am now a MFA candidate in Poetry. I have loved creative writing my entire life. I view poetry as a means to identify self, communicate with others, and process emotion. Other than writing, I'm a caretaker for many local organic gardens, and in my spare time, I practice playing the guitar, bass, and harp.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Chapbook Manuscript

Many poets enter the creative writing world by making a chapbook. A chapbook is a small collection of poems, ranging from 10-30 pages, and typically revolves around a specific topic. Creating a chapbook helps writers hone their skills while also building a portfolio of work. During this project, I will help you brainstorm potential topics for writing, as well as provide feedback on your poems in progress. By the end, you will have your very own chapbook of poems to keep for yourself and share with others!

Build-A-Zine

Zines are the perfect way to share information and art with the world! Whether printed or online, zines provide a platform to share ideas and resources, as well as create a community space. During this project, I will help you create your own zine! What do you want to share with the world? Whether it's art, writing, music, or a smorgasbord of it all, you can build, create, and distribute your very own zine!

Teaching experience

Over the last 8 years, I've taught a wide range of topics. Including, but not limited to: organic gardening, sex education, and creative writing! I've taught in local community centers, libraries, and universities. Most recently, I've adapted my teaching to take place online due to the pandemic. I've taught classes up to 25 people, though I prefer mentoring one-on-one.
