Health Care Systems in Perspective: Exploring the Effects of Social Determinants of Health on Life Expectancy in Brazil and the United States

Abstract or project description
Stefano is working on a comparative analysis exploring how social determinants of health affect life expectancy in Brazil and the United States. Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play. SDOH impact a wide variety of individual health outcomes and behaviors, and perpetuate inequities and heath care disparities between social groups. Exploring how SDOH affect health care outcomes (such as life expectancy) in Brazil and the Unites States will allow us to investigate the public health systems in each country (how healthcare is provided and experienced), as well as to celebrate the successes and identify the flaws in each system.
