Summary

This paper is about analyzing how levels of broad US presence influence the ways that the US’s allies (ie. Saudi Arabia and Israel) act accordingly during times of tension and unrest. The paper will examine different types of US presence (i.e direct vs perception, in global councils and diplomatic settings, strength/ existence of trade agreements, and financial backing from Congress). The paper will critically evaluate the differences in how Saudi Arabia and Israel react to regional tensions based on the strength of their relationship with the US. This paper aims to provide a critical evaluation of the impact of this US relationship on the socio-economic outcomes for the general region during times of regional differences. The paper should clearly show how the US can positively or negatively influence the outcomes for different countries involved in the differences/ unrest.

Project review

“Almost every aspect exceeded or met my expectations -- I didn't expect how much freedom I would be able to have with regards to the direction that the project went, and my mentor and I worked incredibly well together. I initially thought that the process for choosing a topic would be long and arduous, but it was streamlined quite effortlessly, making it feel much easier than it was.”

About my mentor

“Niamh was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable for my topic. Whenever we would brainstorm, she always had an idea for what to talk about more in depth, and how to fit it in the paper. If I had a question about content, she was able to answer it almost immediately, helping me work through the process so I could answer questions by myself in the future. And, she was also helpful at helping organize my paper -- there were a lot of pieces that I was unsure of where to put, and she was able to fit all of the ideas, papers, and writing that I had to make a cohesive and comprehensive outline for my final paper.”
