This research explores the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the fiscal health of the Social Security Administration. Covid-19 had a significant impact on the recipients of old age pensions, causing many to retire early and increased mortality rates. Understanding this is essential because of the immense pressure on funding as well as the social unrest from proposed reforms to social security. I will analyze data from the Social Security Administration’s annual reports, budget documents, and financial statements to identify changes in revenue, expenditures, and the status of Social Security’s trust fund during the pandemic. Ultimately, my aspiration is to approximate the budgetary effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Social Security Trust Fund.
