The Voting Preferences of Adolescents

Abstract or project description

Sweekriti will examine factors such as cues that political candidates give, racial identity, and single-voter issues that influence adolescents voting preferences. She intends to use mixed methods-- surveys and interviews-- to examine how teenagers perceive political candidates. By doing this, she will be able to pinpoint the processes that influence young people's voting preferences.

I plan on using a survey method in order to identify what voting cues and single-voter issues that impact adolescents voting preferences, and to see if I can identify trends that indicate how pre-voters perceive political candidates. This information can reveal what specific factors influence the way adolescents vote, and if any can be tied to a specific factor (immigration, heritage, etc...)
