How do social determinants of health affect learning attainment, assessed through differences between school districts and within school districts?

Abstract or project description
Learning is influenced by a number of internal factors, like one’s ability to engage with their teacher or participate in class. However, it is also influenced by several external environmental factors present in a student’s life outside of school. This is especially evident in the social determinants of health, which describe the conditions that one exists in as they pertain to health and wellbeing. Within an educational context, these are most easily assessed through the percentage of students who are eligible to receive free or reduced lunches. To determine correlation, these will be compared with measures of academic performance collected through standardized testing as well as the college-going-rate in a district.
