Inertial Harvesting of Energy Through Induction Using Road Cars

Abstract or project description

The project's aim is to determine the viability of a system where cars in traffic are able to produce electricity that can be used to assist the existing power grid. The idea is that a car will act as a moving magnetic field through a passive coil built into tunnels on the roads and produce electricity that can be used. This is all built on the concepts from Faraday's law and Lenz's law. The student is working on figuring out the how the theorems relate to each other and how they can be applied to this concept.
