How has the juvenile justice system changed over time and what can be changed to make it better?

Abstract or project description

The topic that Shreya is working on is the juvenile justice system. She is going to do research primarily on the county that she resides in. Her final project will be in the form of a blog consisting of five to six blog posts that are part of a collection, though they can each be read on their own. She plans to research cases, and interview professionals working in the field including a prosecutor, defense attorney, and manager of a nonprofit that works with at-risk youth. In the event that she can’t find interviewees in all of these professions, she plans to conduct research from their backgrounds so that their perspectives are considered. The project will be a journey following her gaining knowledge about the system, the key players involved in it, and her providing recommendations on changes to the system based on what she learned.
