What are the causes of poorer mental and physical health for the elders?

Abstract or project description

The objective of this paper is to analyze the correlation between social isolation of elders and various health issues. Previous studies have concluded that as individuals get older, they become more prone to experiencing loneliness. To conduct my research, I gathered data from past published research that focused on these relationships. I used key words such as elderly social isolation, comparison of community-dwelling elders and senior home elders, consequences of social deprivation, and lack of social contact. The main research engine I used were Google Scholar and NCBI. Most of these papers included experiments and surveys as their methods. Because many results were either inconclusive or varied, there is a need for a cohesive review to draw a final conclusion. This analysis indicates that loneliness and social deprivation of elders significantly increase the likelihood of psychological, cognitive, and physical health issues.
