I chose to work on this project because psychiatry is the career path that I am trying to achieve, and this project will allow me to learn more about this field. Abstract or project description
The global outbreak of COVID-19 has significantly affected various aspects of healthcare, including the management of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For example, the disruptions in healthcare services, including reduced access to in-person interventions, have resulted in changes in diagnosis and treatment. Telehealth and remote interventions have emerged as viable alternatives, enabling the continuation of therapy while ensuring the safety of the patients involved. AI-based technologies have shown promising potential in assisting with this transition to virtual care for individuals with ASD, and have improved the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of autism. This review highlights some of the key findings related to the application of AI in autism management and its potential for enhancing the delivery of care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
