Childhood trauma and the effect on memories

Abstract or project description

The focus of this project is to study how traumatic memories that are formed in childhood affect a person’s memory retention later in life. Through this project, Samika will compile the effects of childhood trauma on adulthood memory and how a specific part of memory or the structure of the brain is affected through trauma.

To conduct the research, Samika is planning on going over relevant research articles. For example, The impact and long-term effects of childhood trauma by Heather Dye, The enduring effects of abuse and related adverse experiences in childhood by Robert F. Anda (and others), and The Biological Effects of Childhood Trauma by Michael D. De Bellis & Abigail Zisk.
