Scaling Swift’s Success: An Investigation Of Marketing Factors Behind Taylor Swift’s Media Empire

Abstract or project description
Taylor Swift is undoubtedly a beacon in the music industry. Understanding what makes Swift successful has not only captured the attention of her fans and other aspiring musicians, but also the media, world leaders, college professors, marketers, and more. This paper addresses the key elements that have contributed to her longstanding career success and continued growth as an artist, such as her fanbase, career longevity, storytelling skills, and ability to differentiate. Further, this article also addresses Swift’s impact on several other entities, such as the political sphere, the US economy, the music industry itself, and on third-party industries like fashion and the National Football League (NFL). This article provides direct insight into several of the key factors that have contributed most to Swift’s success by drawing upon prior literature surrounding parasocial relationships, brand attachment, and popular press. Additionally, this paper uses secondary sources (e.g., voter registration data, US Economy metrics) to analyze and quantify the tangible effects of Swift’s influence on these areas. By understanding the factors that have contributed to Swift’s success and global impact, we can gain further insight into how they can be leveraged by other artists and domains to experience similar benefits. Further, by harnessing Swift’s notably unique marketing strategies and decisions, these insights apply to both consumers and industries that seek to have the rare, transformative, super-stardom-sized impact on their customer bases that Swift has on her fans.
