Nanoparticle-based delivery for novel therapeutics
Started May 16, 2024
Abstract or project description
Recently, there have been several advances in therapeutics with the development of RNA-based therapies, genetic engineering tools, and improvements in the design and development of small-molecule drugs. Nanoparticles can be very useful tools to deliver these novel therapeutics. They have many advantages when used to directly deliver payloads, such as their size, controlled release times, and high-specificity for targeting. Additionally, they possess the ability to bypass transport barriers and have increased permeability compared to other techniques. There are several different types of nanoparticles, such as metal-based, organic polymer-based, and lipid-based, each of which may be applied to overcome certain traits that may pose a barrier to conventional treatments.
