What are the best exercises to managing Type 2 Diabetes

Started Apr. 18, 2024

Abstract or project description

Patrick will explore type 2 diabetes, the epidemiology and pathophysiology. Next, the exploration of exercising and its effects on the body. We will then look at different exercises (running, cycling, resistance, etc) and explore how these differ on their effect in management. We will use figures and table from clinical trials to determine the most ideal exercise regimen. Lastly, we will then propose the exercise regimen for type 2 diabetes.

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is an extremely common disease in the United States where roughly 1 in 10 Americans get it. T2D is a condition where our body becomes resistant to insulin resulting in uncontrollable blood sugar. Medicine can control this condition, however, long term neglect of physical health can lead to serious health complications. Diabetic patients' medical expenses incur a significant burden on the economy, and exercise regimens should be implemented to effectively manage T2D symptoms. Our goal is to assess the different types of cardio exercise regimen, cycling, running, or swimming, to see how each exercise helps reduce blood sugar level. Analysis into different exercises regimens alluded to cycling being the most impactful for T2D patients.
