Project Portfolio

How does long-term exposure to radioactive decay products impact soil, water and agriculture in areas with natural and anthropogenic radioactive sources?

Started Jan. 30, 2024

Abstract or project description

This project will be a research paper, specifically a literature review, with some data analysis and infographics. The primary topic will be the effects of radioactive contamination, specifically on soil, water, and agriculture. There will be a focus on anthropogenic sources, mainly notable nuclear accidents, such as Chernobyl and Fukushima. I also want to talk about what isotopes were released during that accidents. Paper will also provide information about different types of radioactivity and radioactive waste. Paper will also have some information about remediation strategies. I also want to research the impact of the area on the consequences of the nuclear accidents. If there is any correlation between different types of soils or environment and how they react to the exposure. So that is why i am gonna look at the examples of accidents from different parts of the world.
