Why do Americans vote the way they do in Presidential general elections and why do some people vote against their own best interest?

Started Dec. 18, 2023

Abstract or project description

The question for my project is “Why do Americans vote the way they do in Presidential general elections and why do some people vote against their own best interest?” This topic is appealing to me because I enjoy studying political science and politics and I will also be voting in this coming presidential election. For the format of my final project, I hope to be able to create a website with some sort of interactive quiz that can help young first-time voters or even returning voters decide which candidate best aligns with their viewpoints. One of the most effective solutions to people voting against their own best interest is educating people and providing resources that help people make an educated decision.
