The intersection of migraines and anesthesia: the impacts of migraines and migraine medications on anesthesia usage, and the effects of anesthetics on post-operative migraines

Abstract or project description

This project will aim to look at the interactions between migraines and general anesthesia. It will investigate how the pathophysiology of migraines, and the role of medications used in the treatment of migraines, affect the efficacy of anesthetic medications. It will also discuss the role of anesthetics in modulating post-anesthesia migraine intensity and/or duration. This study will be conducted using a combination of literature review, expert opinion, and case report. The goal of this study is to provide useful information for anesthesiologists in treating patients with migraines, and to aid patients with migraines in managing expectations before undergoing general anesthesia.
