Immune suppressive landscape of primary vs recurrent brain tumors

Started Jan. 19, 2024

Abstract or project description

In my research project, I used the gliovis database to compare the gene expression of various immunosuppressive molecules in primary and recurrent brain tumors. With this information, I was able to compare these gene expressions and how it contributes to the tumor microenvironment and other systems within a patient's body. Additionally, after analyzing the change in expression, I was able to narrow down the molecules with the greatest difference between primary and recurrent tumors. I did further research on these molecules including their function, presence in the body, role in gliomas, and possible clinical trials that might be underway to find an inhibitor for such molecules. With this further research and the data from gliovis, I was able to conclude why the expression of these molecules increased between primary and recurrent tumors and how clinical trials could be used to create inhibitors for these molecules.
