The Effects of Artificial Intelligence on Medical Diagnoses

Abstract or project description

Karthik is researching the ways in which artificial intelligence will revolutionize and transform medical diagnoses. He will first describe the process of diagnoses before artificial intelligence, emphasizing the gaps in understanding and places for improvement. He will then discuss how far AI has come and compare the current strengths and weaknesses, especially with respect to efficiency, accuracy and speed (as well as whether humans will supplement, or be replaced by, AI diagnoses in the future). Then he will form predictions about its increased capacities in the future, and the trajectory over the next few years or decades (TBD). He will also talk about ethical concerns and future pitfalls. Finally, we are working on a way to integrate his work coding an app designed to improve efficiency of pneumonia diagnoses, although we haven't yet decided the past path for incorporating it into his research (perhaps as an extended example).
