Abstract or project description
This project is a review paper focused on the underlying neurobiological origins of ADHD and youth, as well popular treatments (e.g., stimulants, CBT). This paper will also consider newer treatments such as neurofeedback. The paper will also discuss limits to current treatments and directions for future research. First, I would like to provide an overview of what ADHD is, some of symptoms, and statistics that go with it. The paper will go into what specific areas of the brain are changed/differ from a person’s brain who does not have ADHD. The paper will also mention some of the genetic and environmental factors that play into having ADHD. The paper will also go into why ADHD is hard to diagnose, and what doctors look at when they are trying to diagnose someone who might have ADHD. This paper will also discuss how different treatments such as the different stimulants compare to non-stimulants, and pharmacological treatments and their results to therapeutical treatments.
