What is relationship between racial disparities in the criminal justice system and wrongful convictions?

Started Feb. 16, 2024

Abstract or project description

In this opinion piece, I will be exploring the relationship between racial disparities in the criminal justice system and wrongful convictions,?There are many incarcerated individuals in prison or longer because of the matter, particularly focusing on official misconduct and the lack of diversity amongst juries. I will also be explaining some solutions that could have an impact to prevent this matter. With this paper I am hoping to make more individuals aware of the situation and how it’s growing in society. When the jury makes these decisions and someone's life is at stake we should be more discreet. As individuals who have that power, racial stereotypes, relationships,or emotions cloud their judgment..How will we fight against this stigma that the jury is automatically against us due our minorities? How can you let them know that we are here to protect you also and that you have rights.
