Review of Polycrystalline Thin Film Technologies for Solar Photovoltaics

Abstract or project description

My student is interested in writing a review paper about solar PV and materials advancements for increasing efficiency of solar cells and/or reducing cost. This project will compare recent work specifically related to materials for polycrystalline thin film solar. It will explain how different solar materials work and provide performance benchmarks (cost, efficiency, resource availability etc.) comparing it to established solar PV. The review paper will comment on ongoing challenges for these materials, hurdles that need to be overcome in order for them to displace established technologies, and/or promising future directions of the field.
