About

Hello! My name is Dhruva Lahoti, and I am interested in researching cognitive facets of information retention regarding the brain and it's neural networks and circuits. I am pursuing this project because I want to learn a lot about the effects of different situations and moods in more of a neuroscience-centered way instead of my current psych-centered mindset. I would like to pursue professions in clinical medicine, like being a doctor.

Abstract or project description

Larger communal education institutions, such as intermediate, secondary, and middle schools (11-13 year-olds), are faced with the challenge of providing an environment to effectively facilitate the dissemination of educational material(s). To date, it is unknown whether it is beneficial to devise an ideal learning environment by creating an autonomy-supportive domain that centers around providing actual tools, choices while learning, and trust from the mentor(s). This literary review will explore possibilities for altering and improving the education environment to maximize learning potential. The paper will specifically focus on the neuroscience that supports the literature I will include in this review. My goal will be to corroborate the reviewed literature with data acquired by a survey directly administered to middle school students entering the 6th and 7th grades.
