What Does the Future Hold? NBA Team Revenue Potential Analysis
Started May 30, 2024
Abstract or project description
I wrote a paper to understand the opportunity and growth of NBA teams moving forward. I analyzed each NBA team’s potential future revenue and ticket pricing. Major markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Boston have traditionally dominated from a play and revenue perspective. But as the new age of the NBA has come, new markets are bursting with potential growth. Smaller market teams like the San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons are becoming strong contenders for revenue growth. This research paper analyzes which NBA team has the strongest future based on revenue growth and ticket pricing by looking at external variables including DMA Size, Social Media, Average Secondary Ticket Price, MSA GDP, Team Salary, Team Revenue, Fan Base Size(FB likes), and Forbes Valuation. The results suggest that while historical teams are at the top of revenue generation, emerging markets such as Orlando and Houston present strong growth opportunities. This shift suggests a more balanced and competitive financial landscape in the NBA moving forward.
