How did the rise of communism affect politics and democracy in Weimar Germany?

Abstract or project description

The Russian revolution was an unexpected factor to me when learning about the interwar period from the podcast. It really interests me because this isn’t a widely talked about subject when regarding the Interwar period. Looking at the rise of communism can also give another angle to the rise of Fascism in Germany since the two groups were frequently fighting for power. Looking at Germany can give an example of the true extent of influence that the Russian Revolution had over Europe following World World I. Through this questions I can also explore the rise of socialism in early Germany and how it helped form modern Germany.
