Predicting the next trading direction of a stock price

Abstract or project description
Ayush is working on learning foundational machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI) concepts in tandem to continually improving his programming skills, primarily in Python. We are centering our efforts this summer on a binary classification prediction task, i.e., predicting the next trading direction of a stock price. We are basing this work on a vetted dataset and competition from the Kaggle platform (https://www.kaggle.com/competitions/shortlong-prediction/overview). In learning these skills, Ayush will have a headstart in understanding ML/AI concepts and will be far ahead of his peers in programming these applications. These skills will be transferable to other ML and generative AI challenges. We will likely showcase this work through a Github repository or similar outlet where Ayush will be able to document and share what he learned.
