About

Hello, my name is Ayaan, and my project is about observing different proteins and genes to understand the effects of different neurodegenerative diseases. I chose to work on this due to a past interest in diseases, specifically genetically related ones. Once this project is completed, I would like to possibly complete a more advanced one and finish high school while pursuing a higher education for medicine.

Projects

  • "What is the role of Huntington's interacting proteins in the progression of Huntington's disease in middle-aged victims?" with mentor Jordan (Feb. 14, 2024)

Project Portfolio

What is the role of Huntington's interacting proteins in the progression of Huntington's disease in middle-aged victims?

Started Sept. 6, 2023

Abstract or project description

Ayaan plans on researching his question, "What role does HAP1 play in the progression of Huntington's disease". He will perform many database searches to pull out 3-4 data papers that he will analyze and use as evidence to refute or support his hypothesis. Once Ayaan finishes reading these papers, I will have him create his hypothesis (session 4). These papers will focus on either mouse or human subjects and elucidate the role of HAP1 in cells and its interactions with HTT. The role of HAP1 is very uncertain, so another main aspect of this project will be to hypothesize on what its possible effects are on the body. I can look at certain case studies and a pedigree to help narrow down what I am looking for as well.
