Abstract or project description
The project Anya will be working on will discuss two different diseases: Periodontal disease and Alzheimer's disease. Anya will discuss the incidence, causes, risk factors, and mechanism of action of different bacterium that will cause each disease. Additionally, Anya will focus on the links between common bacteria and how having one may affect/cause the other. Anya will also discuss any treatment modalities and evaluate whether treating periodontal disease will affect/reduce any symptoms that may come up. It's important to mention that while this is a very interesting and challenging paper because Alzheimer's does not currently have a cure.
