Abstract or project description

Jada will be investigating the microbial degradation of per and poly fluorinated compounds. We will cover why these compounds are in the environment, how these compounds are traditionally degraded, and biological platforms for degradation. We will look at reductive deflourination and traditional deflourination. Further, we will study both the degradation by microbial communities and by single organisms. Finally, we will analyze the pitfalls of using a microbial platform and potential ways to mitigate them.
