Investigating precision medicine and gene expression for breast cancer
Started July 24, 2023
Abstract or project description
Precision medicine is becoming increasingly more imperative in providing high-quality care for patients with breast cancer, particularly given the diversity and complexities of the disease. Our study will review the current advancements and applications of precision medicine to breast cancer ranging from genome-wide association studies to polygenic risk scores and pharmacogenomics. Additionally, we will leverage the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database from NBCI to perform additional gene expression analyses for breast cancer samples. This includes differential gene expression analysis as well as gene-set enrichment analysis to highlight genes that play a strong role in the pathogenesis of breast cancer. This will ultimately help identify additional gene targets for precision medicine applications.
