The Impact of Covid on Labor and Equity Markets

Abstract or project description

This project collects and analyzes stock market behavior and unemployment from a panel of countries around the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. The paper seeks to explain why some countries experienced larger changes than others by using third world factors and not simply the dramatic stock market crash of the pandemic. By examining financial and labor data from different economies, the paper will investigate how and whystock indices responded to rising unemployment rates and varying government responses to the crisis. The paper wil explore the differing impacts on various sectors, including how it effected services, manufacturing, and technology, and how these influenced the economic recovery.
