About

Hello! My name is Amber Randolph and my project is on the relationship between music and the adolescent mind. I chose to work on this project because I want to understand the relationship between my interests: music, neurobiology, psychology, and sociology. After I am done with my project, I hope to get published and use my findings to promote positive adolescent behavior. I am a strong supporter for educating youth about the power of self-advocacy, and my research project will aid me in this journey!

Started May 3, 2024

Abstract or project description

Music is essential to human life. Since ancient times, music has been a core part of human culture. In recent times, music has become integral to the adolescent experience. With recent technological advances, music has become pervasive in teenagers' lives. Through music, teenagers express their emotions and beliefs. Because music is becoming more significant in adolescent life, the purpose of this study is to examine the connection between music and the minds of teenagers. In the long term, this paper aims to use music to find better mental health solutions and promote positive adolescent behavior.

This research paper will investigate music's primary effects on adolescents' motivation and behavior through literature reviews and a survey. A psychological aspect will be explored, such as the neuroscience behind music and its influence on emotion. Furthermore, the impact of music on motivation, such as music’s effect on attention, will be discussed. This paper will explore the relationship between music and behavior, as different music genres can encourage different behaviors. Lastly, this paper will explore music’s impact on mental health. By conducting this study, this paper will broaden the knowledge of music’s effects on adolescents while providing information for using music to improve adolescent behavior.
