Examining Gene Editing for Fragile X Syndrome
Started Sept. 22, 2021
Abstract or project description
Fragile X syndrome is a severe autism spectrum disorder (ASD) caused by the mutation of a single gene. Many researchers have tried to treat Fragile X syndrome. With the explosion of gene editing as a precise way to induce genetic changes, severe single-gene disorders like Fragile X syndrome are particularly attractive genetic targets. This project will review gene editing approaches to treat Fragile X syndrome and speculate on the future of gene editing in treating this disorder.
