About
Hello! My name is Adriana Marie and my Polygence project is on neuroplasticity-based interventions for ischemic stroke recovery. I chose to work on this topic because of the widespread impact strokes have on so many people’s lives. Given that stroke is a leading cause of death, I feel there is an urgent need for more research and education on this issue. In the future, I want to continue my studies by majoring in Neuroscience, and then go to med school.Projects

Investigating the Potential and Efficiency of Neuroplasticity-based Interventions in Stroke Recovery
Started June 27, 2024

Abstract or project description
Given the significant impact of stroke, especially as a leading cause of death, there is a need for effective rehabilitation strategies. By reviewing current research, I will examine the different mechanisms of neuroplasticity in stroke rehabilitation, and its efficacy in various intervention strategies, like physical therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and pharmacological treatments. In addition, a key focus will be identifying factors that influence the efficacy of these neuroplasticity interventions, such as individual variability, timing and duration of interventions, and sociocultural and genetic factors. Also, I would like to possibly develop a comprehensive proposal for a novel, evidence-based intervention to optimize neuroplasticity following stroke damage.
