Spend Your Summer Taking Your First Steps Into the World of Medical Research
Polygence and Summer Discovery have partnered to design an immersive summer program where you’ll explore cutting-edge medical research on campus and work with a mentor to design and conduct your own project.
How it works:
On campus in the summer, online with your mentor
Your experience starts on the UC Berkeley campus, where you'll explore an academic lab, meet researchers, and learn about groundbreaking techniques and methods shaping modern medicine. Through interactive lectures and hands-on workshops, you’ll gain valuable insights into how scientists tackle today’s biggest challenges in healthcare and beyond.
After your on-campus experience, you’ll be matched with an expert mentor who will guide you in designing and conducting your own research project. Whether you’re fascinated by genetics, public health, neuroscience, or another field, you’ll have the freedom to choose a topic that excites you. Your mentor will support you every step of the way, from brainstorming ideas to exploring results and writing your very own college-level research paper. With one summer, you can become a researcher.
Who is this program for?
This program is perfect for curious, driven students who are eager to learn, explore, and make their mark in the world of medical research. By the end of your journey, you’ll not only have developed your own project but also built skills and confidence to pursue future scientific endeavors. Open to students in grades 9-12.
