Research Coaches are Polygence alumni who have successfully completed their Polygence projects and are currently studying at some of the top universities in the United States.
Meet the Polygence Research Coach Spring 2025 Cohort!

Arjun Ramakrishnan, Computer Science Student at University of Virginia (UVA)
Hello! My name is Arjun, and I am a second year at the University of Virginia majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Data Science. My current interests are artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analysis. In my free time, I like playing tennis and guitar. I’m excited to be a research coach and embark on this journey with you all.
Arjun was mentored by Jon, a PhD candidate at Stanford University, for his Polygence project, "Hazardous Asteroid Classification with Machine Learning using Physical and Orbital Asteroid Properties". He published and presented at the Polygence Symposium of Rising Scholars.

Camdyn Wu, Cognitive Science & Gerontology Student at USC
Hi! My name is Camdyn, and I’m a junior at the University of Southern California (USC) pursuing a bachelor’s in Cognitive Science and a master’s in Gerontology. I’m interested in cognition, Alzheimer’s Disease, and finding ways to help our growing elderly population. I currently work in a clinical research lab studying elderly financial decision-making and cognition. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, completing crossword puzzles, bullet journaling, and spending time with friends.
Camdyn was mentored by Christina, a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford, on her Polygence project, ‘Connection Between Childhood Learning Disabilities and Atypical Dementias’. She published her paper in the IYNA journal.

Jingyao Guo, Cell Biology & Genetics Student at Rice University
Hi everyone! My name is Jingyao and I am a junior at Rice University, majoring in Cell Biology and Genetics with a Neuroscience minor and a Spanish certification. I am originally from Dallas, TX, and I am on the pre-med track. I currently do neurosensory research, focusing on ophthalmology, at the Baylor College of Medicine, and in my free time I enjoying dancing and volunteering.
Jingyao was mentored by Chelsea, PhD at UC Santa Barbara for her project, The Role of Dopamine in Schizophrenia: pathways, genetics, treatments, and behavior, in which she created a video essay exploring factors contributing to the development of Schizophrenia.

Noora Mathur, Genetics & Genomics Student at UC Davis
Hi! My name is Noora, and I’m a junior at UC Davis, majoring in Genetics & Genomics and minoring in Public Health. I am interested in biotechnology and genetic research, as well as cardiovascular research and pediatric cardiology. I volunteer at a student-run clinic and intend on going to medical school. Outside of academics, I love dancing, and am currently the captain of an Indian dance team. I also love reading and traveling.
Noora's Polygence project, 'How do maternal environmental factors influence your child’s risk of developing congenital heart defects?' was featured at the Polygence Symposium of Rising Scholars.

Sinchana Hallyal, Biology & Behavioral Neuroscience Student at Northeastern University
Hello! My name is Sinchana and I am a junior at Northeastern University majoring in Biology and minoring in Behavioral Neuroscience. Topics I am interested in are psychopharmacology, treatment methods for anxiety and depression, brain injuries, and the application of these topics in the medical field. Outside of school I love to spend time with my friends, travel, and workout.
Sinchana was mentored by Nicole, PhD candidate at Rutgers for her Polygence project 'Non-traditional Treatment Methods for Substance Abuse and Depression and their Comorbidity.'

Shravan Kannan, Neuroscience & Molecular Biology Student at UC Berkeley
I’m Shravan Kannan a second year at UC Berkeley. My research interests are in neuroscience, neurosurgery, and drug discovery. I currently do research in UC Berkeley on investigating cortico-striatal circuits that support decision-making in the context of autism. I also love volunteering at local clinics and giving back to my community. I also love photography and music.
Shravan was mentored by Josh, an MD & PhD at Tufts for his Polygence project, 'A Gene Therapy for Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer using CRISPR-Cas9 Nickase'. He published in bioRxiv & presented at the Polygence Symposium of Rising Scholars.
