Frequently Asked Questions
How does a project with PolyPilot compare to a Polygence Core Project?
Both programs help the student conduct research and work toward a unique outcome. Whereas Core projects can target outcomes like prototypes, GitHubs, models and podcasts (in addition to research papers), PolyPilot only supports literature review research papers at this time. The depth of research also differs for Polygence Core and PolyPilot projects. In addition to literature review, Core projects include extensive discourse with an expert mentor over the course of 10 hour-long live sessions. If you’re unsure of which program best suits your needs, we encourage you to schedule a call with an admissions advisor to discuss Core to see if it’s a fit.
What is the tuition and what does a PolyPilot project include?
Tuition for PolyPilot is $399. This includes 6 months of access to the dashboard, interactive chat guidance and 4 mentor feedback checkpoints.
What are mentor checkpoints?
At 4 key moments on your research journey, you’ll be prompted to send your work to your mentor for feedback. Your mentor will review your work, and either confirm you’re on the right track and give you the “green light” to move onto the next stage, or your mentor will provide constructive feedback and send your work back to you to improve. You can re-submit your work after incorporating your mentor’s feedback.
Who are PolyPilot mentors?
PolyPilot mentors are the same mentors who guide our Core program students - the difference is that your correspondence with your mentor is asynchronous and limited to your mentor checkpoints.
What is the process to begin my project once I sign up?
When you sign up, a member of our team will reach out to get you enrolled. Once that occurs, mentor matching begins. Since you'll have a real mentor assigned to monitor your project, it can take 2-4 weeks until you get matched and get the go-ahead to begin.
Will the AI do my work for me?
Not at all, PolyPilot will not do your work for you. While PolyPilot can help you find sources and help you stay on track, you’ll be the one reading your sources, building an understanding, coming to conclusions and writing your paper.
Will my final paper be publishable?
Publication is never guaranteed - even when doing Polygence’s Core program. Publication decisions are based on the quality of the insights, writing and thought included in your paper. PolyPilot includes mentor checkpoints, writing feedback and guidance on how to showcase your project. It’s designed to help you create a high quality research paper- but whether or not it gets accepted for publication will be entirely based on your insight and effort.
How long do I have to complete my project?
Most Polygence Core projects are completed in 3-6 months. Your PolyPilot access will remain open for 6 months from your project start date, giving you plenty of time to complete your project.
Are there any limits for how much I can interact with PolyPilot?
You can access your PolyPilot chat guidance any time, from anywhere and as often as you like for 6 months. You will have 4 asynchronous mentor checkpoints, which include one additional ‘resubmit’ (if needed) for each checkpoint.
What if my work isn’t approved by my mentor after I resubmit at a checkpoint?
After you resubmit your work, if your mentor still feels that your work needs improvement, PolyPilot will not prevent you from moving to the next stage – your mentor will include detailed feedback on how you might improve your work and it will be your responsibility to incorporate that feedback to the best of your ability.
