Bio
Hello! My name is Jamal Starling and I have many passions. During my college career, I was pre-med studying Nutritional Sciences to learn how I can best share nutritional advice with my family and loved ones. Once I graduated, I was able to jump into management consulting learning how to help organizations improve business processes, implement new technology, and manage groups of people. In my free time, I love playing basketball, going to the gym, and hanging out with my fiance. Of course, I love the summer time because it gives me an excuse to grill every week with my twin brother!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Build a Budget Tracker App!
One of the most important aspects of life is learning how to manage it properly, especially with one's finances. Let's make managing finances fun and easy for everyone, using current technology! In this project, you will learn what it takes to build a phone application and get a good understanding of how to budget effectively. You will gain skills in budgeting, management, and app development.
Teaching experience
I spent a summer during my undergraduate experience teaching NYC students in summer school to help in the classroom and serve as a mentor to the students. Also, I was a Teachers Assistant (Facilitator) for a class called Intergroup Dialogue Project to help my peers learn about social identities, how they impact us, and how we can make for a better college environment.Credentials
