Bio
Hello, I'm Sierra! I have spent my academic and professional career in the interconnected world of business. During my time at St. Edward's University, I pursued international business with a focus on international marketing and cross cultural communication. After spending a year in Innsbruck, Austria I began my 5-year career in open source software with Canonical, the creators of the Ubuntu OS, doing business development and product revamps for data center and Internet of Things technology. I've decided the next step in my career is to explore consulting and product marketing at Rice University, to focus on more of the 'side quests' I keep finding myself on. I've loved and tried a lot of hobbies, but the ones that have stuck have been reading, cooking, gardening, and weight lifting. When I'm not working, you can usually find me doing an online class, visiting with friends, or exploring a new coffee shop in town.Project ideas
Internet of Things (IoT) or Smart Product Launch
Given my background of working with the largest and leanest IoT programs in the world, I'd love to help as students build their market strategy for the next big thing. Aspects to consider when building a go to market strategy include writing a business plan, identifying your ideal target market, market research to understand your competition, and a roadmap to launch your idea to a full fledged release!
Sales development methodology to attract and retain consumers in the tech industry
Not sure what sales development is? Sales development is the foundation for how businesses grow their funding for new innovation and research to occur. Without this small, but mighty, team a company will not be able to field all the interested parties looking to work with or purchase your product! In this project we will go over what key aspects of sales development are, pitfalls of newbie sales teams, building a message to capture consumers attention, and how to create and manage your business funnel.
