Bio

Hello! My name is Chyana Woodyard, a masters of public health candidate at the George Washington University Milken School of Public Health. I am a previous graduate from Hampton University with a Bachelors of Science in biology on the pre-medicine track. I have several years of research in microbiology and structural biology, where I have been able to present my findings at the ERN Conference 2020 in DC. I am also a certified Peer Educator, as I previously served as a Peer Health Educator on Hampton University's campus, working with the campus health center in educating the university's students and community about community health through interactive workshops, project generation, and public speaking. While I am not in school or working, I love to volunteer with the Red Cross and work out. I hope to mentor any bright individual that is willing to work with me. I hope to contribute something to help enlighten your future and push you further into the field that you aspire to work in. Not only this, but I hope to give my mentees some new ways to approach their own projects. Overall, I truly look forward to working with all of my mentees!!!

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Self Care and Wellness Interactive Workshop

To introduce a beneficial interactive workshop about self care and wellness to an audience of any age 15+. In the workshop, you can define the topic and its positive biological affects. Then, the workshop would go on defining the 8 dimensions of wellness along with the stages of change, incorporating interactive questions and answers. You would help the audience develop a well thought out wellness plan, and end in a hands-on, interactive, self care and wellness activity. The activity would emphasize social behavior change for the benefit of the audience, and help the students build their public speaking, cooperation, demonstration, and self confidence skills.

Teaching experience

I have mentored students through the Child Center of New York, where I was able to mentor high school and middle school students about a path in STEM, a journey in pre-medicine, and applying and matriculating into college.
