Bio
Hello, I'm Dr. Blake Ma! I am from Connecticut, USA and I love to mentor inspiring students. I received my college degree from the University of Connecticut in molecular and cell biology and a minor in business. During my college years, I was the director of the honors program mentoring program responsible for over 200 students. In addition, I worked with 30+ students on an individual basis as a private tutor. I also worked at Yale as part of the Yale Young Global Scholars program who has a similar mission to Polygence! After college, I went to dental school and received my doctorate in dental medicine in 2020. I finished in New York in an advanced dental residency to further my interests that include surgeries and implants and now practicing full time. I am interested in a mentee that may have an interest in medicine, healthcare, or biology research.Project ideas
Pathway to a Career in Healthcare
This project will be focusing on exploring careers in the healthcare field. I will help the student explore their interest in healthcare and offer strategies to increase their opportunity and exposure in their field of interest. At the end of this project, the student will have a step-by-step plan to pursue their desired career in healthcare.
How to Conduct Great Research
This project will familiarize students with the tools to create a great research project in medicine. Once the basics of research are established, these principles can be applied to create a prototype project that will investigate a niche in medicine.
Interpreting Outcomes of Oral Surgery Topics
This project will focus on introducing the student to fundamental topics of oral surgery including wisdom teeth surgeries, dental implants. The student will then choose to focus on a specific area of oral surgery and look at scientific literature to explore how different factors may alter outcomes.
