Bio
Hi there! My name is Vik, and I'm currently a resident physician in Mesa, AZ. Aside from medicine, I have a passion for teaching, which is what led me here. I have been teaching/tutoring for over 8 years now, and have taught all students from middle school all the way to college and medical school. Also, because of my background in medicine, I have over 5 years of research experience. I've had to create and lead multiple research projects, and I loved every second of it! Outside of work, I love staying active. You can catch me playing soccer and basketball, or going on some long runs. My brain is always going 100mph, so I like anything I can do to try and get my body to catch up.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Decreased Blue Light in Sleep Routine and Its Effects on Quality of Sleep in Adolescents
Increased use of phones and laptops prior to bed has been proven to reduce quality of sleep and increase daytime drowsiness. We can focus on adolescents (since phone/laptop use is increased in this population) and see the benefits of decreased/absence of blue light use when in bed on daytime drowsiness and quality of sleep. This can be measured by self-reporting surveys and looking at current research. If this research is successful, the student could keep building on this project to advocate for the positive effects of red light therapy on sleep.
